Leigh Hartenberg, MSW, LICSW, LCSW

As an acute care social worker on the cardiology unit, Leigh’s role is to engage patients and their families in discussions regarding adjusting to and coping with life-limiting illness. Many of her patients face difficult decisions regarding choosing when to pursue palliative or hospice care interventions. Many times discussions with these patients lead to topics of death and dying and providing comfort and support when patients and families make the decision to choose hospice care. Through education conferences and day-to-day professional experiences, Leigh has developed a professional practice concentration on coping with life limiting illnesses, family system grief and loss and engaging family and staff in conversations about end of life care.
