Further immersion in the topic of cultural competency and humility with a focus on our African American patients and families, with their unique as well as common end-of-life care experiences with the wider patient population.

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

  • Review basic aspects of cultural competency and humility in healthcare
  • Nurture abilities to form patient-focused, culturally sensitive care to minority groups
  • Get introduced to the history of medical racism, persistent health care access issues in our society, and their impact on the end of life care for the African American patients and their families
