By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the potential challenges surrogate decision-makers face in the Intensive Care Unit setting, particularly related to serious illness and end of life.
  • Recall best practice when providing decisional support to surrogate decision-makers.
  • Recall processes for decision-making when the patient is unable to direct their own care.
