6I: Overcoming the Fear of Death

Sheila Duddy, RN, MEd

In this presentation I will review the various types of fears, & anxieties related to dying & death along with the support and interventions available to work with those fears. Facing death is not a once and done job but rather working and learning to accept death along the journey of our life.

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

  • Identify anxiety, fear, and depression related to death and dying
  • Discuss various means and interventions to reduce fears and anxieties around end of life issues
  • Dispel at least three hospice myths about dying, care, and services
  • Review methods that support death positivity & transform fear
