Torrie leads the development and implementation of programs and processes at Blue Shield of California that strive to improve quality of life for individuals with serious or life-limiting illness and their families. In addition to her role at Blue Shield of California, Torrie also serves as a consultant to the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and is the co-director of the CAPC Quality Alignment Hub. Mindful of the bridge between payors, providers, and patients – heightened by her perspective as a two-time cancer survivor, she has led a variety of successful palliative care initiatives including benefit design, case management, caregiver support, and policy and engagement efforts. Torrie holds an MPH from Oregon Health and Sciences University, a Certificate in Gerontology from Portland Community College, a BS in sociology from Portland State University, and a BA in communication theory from University of California, San Diego.
