Tim Haskamp, LICSW

I have been a social worker for forty-six years with twenty-four years at Mayo Clinic primarily on the acute psychiatric unit, and for the past five years at Seasons Hospice. As part of Seasons Bereavement Services, I provide individual grief counseling and facilitation of grief groups including survivors of suicide and grief groups at the federal prison in Rochester. Under a grant from Bremer Foundation, I developed a Veterans Discussion Group. This evolved from a structured format to a general discussion group facilitated by Veterans with my role as a facilitator/witness to their journey. There has been discussion on a variety issues and themes that have affected Veterans many of which are related to the losses they experienced and the challenges with their transitions to civilian life. This group has given me an understanding of the challenges our Veterans have faced and the need for more community understanding beyond the simple ‘Thank You for Your Service.’
